We didn’t just launch the platform, but also conducted load-testing and took all the measures for security of channels before product launching, conducted constant monitoring and technical support of the platform during promo.

Promo Coca-Cola "Summer 2013” was held in Ukraine from 3rd of June till 28th of July 2013. Each participant, who found code under the caps of the promo drink Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, took part by registration by SMS or on the website.

Promo prizes included:

  • Coca-Cola T-shirt or beach towels every minute;
  • certificates for trop to the seas every week.

Our main tasks:

  • To create and maintain clear and easy to understand promo mechanism;
  • to exclude any possibility of manipulation in the code registration;
  • To provide high level of security and fault-tolerant platform.

The main achievement is new ideas for improvement of promo mechanics for future activities.

Promo Coca-Cola “Summer”
2013 was held all over Ukraine from the 3rd of June till the 28th of July 2013.
As a technical partner we were responsible for implementation of the Promo Mechanics. Each participant, who found the codes under the caps of promo drinks Coca-Cola. Fanta, Sprite could participate in the promo by registering the codes on the website or by SMS.

The winners were determined by random selection. The participants were informed on the win by SMS and by publication on the website.

In order to attain the prizes the winner had to fill in the order form on the website within 30 days upon receiving the SMS. The T-shirt ad towels were sent to the participants by mail, the certificates were sent using courier delivery services.

Results

The results of the promo more than 1.5 registrations and more than 500 thousand of participants all over Ukraine. One could also go through registration procedure using popular social networks (Vkontakte, Facebook, Google+).

Actions takes to fulfill the tasks:
  • 11-digit code generation, guessability of which approached to “0”;
  • Personalization of all the participant by e-mail or by phone number;
  • Setting new limits for wrong codes registration from one phone number, as well as determined and set limits for one IP;
  • Implemented the mechanics based on CAPTCHA to protect the system from code guessing by bots or bruteforce;
  • In order not to discredit the codes from server, traffic exchange between SMS module and Gateway was conducted through secure protocol SSL, and the public website, admin module and participation forms processing and prize delivery module worked using SLL-certificate through secured channel;
  • In order to maintain secure storage of codes even in case of promo server hacking, the codes were stored on the special SOA platform;
  • 24x7 monitoring, which allowed to find the problems on the early stage and solve them spending minimum time.

The results of the promo more than 1.5 registrations and more than 500 thousand of participants all over Ukraine. One could also go through registration procedure using popular social networks (Vkontakte, Facebook, Google+).

The systems developed (promo-website and promo-platform) successfully passed the security assessment and penetration tests as well as load balancing tests by PricewaterhouseСoopers Company. Then the developed systems were approved and uploaded on the central hosting of Coca-Cola Company.
